I am writing from the Hotel Bougainvillea here in San Jose, Costa Rica. The 2023 Wildside Nature Tours Costa Rica: Birds & Wildlife Photography Workshop was simply spectacular with not one, but two pairs of nesting Scarlet Macaws, a Sunbittern on the nest, at least 8 species of frogs, a Three-wattled Bellbird on the lek, King Vultures up close and personal, American Crocodiles swimming rapidly alongside our boat, a Bare-throated Tiger Heron that ran AT us, Ghost Bats, and so much more!
We shook up our itinerary and had a new local guide and it paid off tremendously. We even explored a new possible destination yesterday morning and everyone came away with images of the very rare Scaled Antpitta! One of the most secretive and hard to see of this family of birds.
Tons of great kingfisher image opportunities, and how about a poison dart frog (Oophaga pumilio) carrying a tadpole on it's back? And I haven't even talked about the Resplendent Quetzals flying in and out of their nest!

To be honest, I have so many images I love, hard to pick a first one to share, but I am going with this one as I love the subject, the colors, and the memory.
