ابن خلدون
هو عبد الرحمن ابن خلدون، فيلسوف ومؤرخ وعالم ،اجتماعي، أصله من إشبيلية، مولده ومنشأه بتونس، توجه إلى مصر وولي قضاء المالكية فيه، اشتهر بكتابه العير وديوان المبتدأ والخبر، توفي عام ١٤٠٥م.
أبو فراس الحمداني: (۹۳۲ - ٩٦٨)
ابن عم سيف الدولة الحمداني ورفيقه في الحرب، وقع في أسر الروم ٩٦٢ وفي الأسر كتب أجمل قصائده وأحلاها.
أبو العلاء المعري (۹۷۳ - ١٠٥۷):
شاعر وفيلسوف ضرير من معرة النعمان شمال سوريا، في الرابعة من عمره أصابه جدري ذهب بعينيه امضى عمره عازباً، لقب نفسه (رهين المحبسين وهما البيت والعمى.
عمرو بن كلثوم
من شعراء المعلقات السبع وهو ابن مالك التغلبي كان أبوه من سادات تغلب، وأمه ليلى بنت المهلهل كان معجباً - بنفسه، فخوراً بأمجاد قومه، عاش مئة وخمسون عاماً.
التبريزي:
هو يحيى بن علي، من أئمة اللغة والأدب، نشأ ببغداد ورحل إلى بلاد الشام قرأ تهذيب اللغة على يد أبو العلاء المعري، من كتبه شرح ديوان الحماسة لأبي تمام.
ابن عساکر: (١١٠٥ - ١١٧٦) من أوائل الأساتذة في كتابة التاريخ والسير، له كتاب التاريخ الكبير، أوجز فيه سير جميع الوجهاء الذين لهم صلة بدمشق ويتألف من ثمانين جزء.

Ibn Khaldun
He is Abd al-Rahman Ibn Khaldun, a philosopher, historian, and social scientist. He was originally from Seville, born and raised in Tunisia. He went to Egypt and became the ruler of the Maliki district there.
Abu Firas al-Hamdani: (932 - 968)
The cousin of Saif al-Dawla al-Hamdani and his companion in the war, he fell into the captivity of the Romans in 962 and in captivity wrote his most beautiful and sweet poems.
Abu al-Ala’ al-Ma’ari (973-1057):
A blind poet and philosopher from Maarat al-Nu`man in northern Syria. At the age of four, he contracted smallpox that left his eyes. He spent his life celibate.
Amr bin Kulthum
He was one of the Seven Mu'allaqat poets, and he is the son of Malik al-Taghlibi. His father was one of the masters of Taghlib, and his mother was Laila bint al-Muhalhal. He was self-admiring and proud of the glories of his people. He lived for a hundred and fifty years.
Tabrizi:
He is Yahya bin Ali, one of the imams of language and literature. He grew up in Baghdad and moved to the Levant. He read Tahdheeb al-Lugha at the hands of Abu al-Ala al-Ma’ari, from his books Sharh Diwan al-Hassam by Abu Tammam.
Ibn Asaker: (1105-1176) was one of the first professors in writing history and biographies. He wrote the Great History Book, in which he summarized the biographies of all the notables who had ties to Damascus, and it consisted of eighty parts.
