I have heard earlier that this species is monogamous and pair bonds are often lifelong. Their beautiful courtship flights take place around the nesting cliffs. I have heard that the species is easily recognizable because its head is white, with a matching neck ruff. Their head and neck do not have any feathers, and are instead covered in a very fine fluff. I have also heard that unlike other birds, they do not seek shelter in the heat but rather stretch their necks out, letting the air refresh them.
Yes, I am talking about Eurasian Griffon Vulture. I met the pair at Bikaner dump yard. They were really shy. Although I picked up my camera from a reasonable distance, both the birds started their take off together and instantly . I didn't have much time to press the shutter and this was what I got. After all, they were my first Eurasian Griffon vulture and that too in pair.
