واما فيما يتعلق بالرجال فان الامر اصب لان قليلين من الرجا . يتصورون انهم سيتقاعدون بسبب السن فيأتي التقاعد صدمة عنيفة لهم ويفاجئهم قبل ان يستعدوا له . أن هذا موقف صعب جدا اذ كيف يتدبرون وقتهم : ان الذين كان لهم عمل ثانوي المهواية أو التسلية مع عملهم الاساسي يمكنهم أن يتابعوا هوايتهم والمشكلة الحقيقية الصعبة هي التي تجابه أولئك الذين ة حياتهم يعملون نوعا واحدا من العمل وقد يكونون قد برعوا فيه جيد ولكن لا يدركون أنه سيأتي عليهم يوم يسلمون فيه عملهم هذا الى ايد شابة . ومتى أتى ذلك اليوم يجدون أيديهم عاجزة عن العمل أنها دماغهم لا يزال نشيطاء وصعوبة هذه الحالة هي في المدن أكثر منها في القرى والأرياف لان في هذه يكون العمل منوعا ويقدر شخص مهما بلغ من السنين ان يجد لنفسه عملا يناسبه والعمل في الحقل او المزرعة لا ينتهي وفيه الصعب والهين . واما في المدن فالتخصص هو العمل المطلوب . وخوفا من ضجر الشيخوخة على ساكن المدينة وهوفي متوسط عمره ، ان يقوم بعمل آخر غين عمله الرئيسي يرجع اليه في اخر ايام حياته اما لكسب المال او لمجرد قضاء الوقت والتسلية ان الشباب مرن يقدر ان ينتقل من عمل الى آخر دون صعوبة ولكن يصعب على الكبار ان يغيروا اعمالهم بسهولة الا اذا تعودوا وهم شباب ان ينوعوا طرق عملهم وهذا ما يساعدهم عند الشيخوخة ان ينتقلوا من عمل الى آخر بسهولة نسبية ، ان العقل البشري يكـره الفراغ والخمول مدة طويلة فاذا لم يعمل البتة ضعف بسرعة
