Leave for the Minister of Labor! The concerns of photojournalists in Lebanon are almost greater than the pictures they take at night and during the day, in dreams and while awake. No, that is forbidden, and our memory jumps to a day when Representative Nazem Al-Qadri was Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, and on his table in the ministry was a set of requests for a number of non-Lebanese photographers requesting leaves to work in Lebanon. At that time, the Director General of the Ministry, Sheikh Hamid Khoury, asked the President of the Photographers' Syndicate for his opinion on the matter. The President wished, in the name of the Syndicate, to stop these requests and limit photographic work, especially journalistic work, to Lebanese citizens only because the supreme national interest requires that and security necessities necessitate such a position, in addition to the fact that a large number of Lebanese photographers are unemployed citizens. What prompts us to talk about the past is the decision issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and restricts some professions to Lebanese only, without mentioning the profession of photography in the framework of the list.

Granting work permits to non-Lebanese photographers in random ways harms the interest of Lebanon first and the photographers second, which limits the development of the profession of photojournalism and the absorption of well-informed and educated Lebanese youth who specialize in this art. In addition to the lack of reciprocity in other countries with regard to granting work permits to Lebanese photographers who aspire to work abroad, why are we more royalist than the king? Photojournalists in Lebanon hope that the dynamic minister, Dr. Adnan Marwa, will reconsider the arrangements for granting photographic work permits to non-Lebanese, either by seizing them or Withdraw it and work to ensure the security of the Lebanese photographer and protect him from all offenses against his acquired rights, especially since this photographer has proven his ability and artistic and moral competence in the field of local and international photography and preserved the honor of the profession and safeguarded the interest of Lebanon
