A dance picture in #beijing. In the Long Corridor of the Summer Palace, a dancer goes on pointe. Shot for the Beijing Cultural Commission, the photo is represented by the @monroegallery. Monroe just launched a show, “Imagine a World without Photojournalism.” Powerful show, consisting of images made over time that have shaped our collective sense of history.
This was shot with a Nikkor 200mm f2 lens, hence the sudden, rapid fall off in DOF. Hardest part? Clearing the corridor of people. The Summer Palace is one of the busiest destinations in Beijing. I photographed the Chinese dance scene numerous times over the course of many visits to China.
