Doors as windows
In the picture left the effect of a window is created by an open door- way , which creates a frame within the picture frame , dividing the photograph into two related areas . This effect is further increased by the contrasting lighting in the two areas .

The translucent glass in the window below diffuses the shapes of objects increasingly , the further away they are . It has distorted the two figures into strange , ghostly silhouettes . Only the hand on the window pane is distinguishable .
