Adding Action to Glamour Shots
USE OF SLOW shutter speed imparts action in color shot at left as motion of water and arms blur out purposely . In the above photo , the action was staged and stopped with just the slightest trace of blur to avoid that " frozen " look . Low camera angle gives added impact with the sky for background .
LOW angle and filter - dark ened skies accentuate action in these three pictures . Photos at left and top right were shot on golf course hill top ; one below was at beach .
A PICTURE OF a pretty girl will catch
the eye any viewer young or old male or female . But , just add a bit of action to the glamour subject and the eye will not only be caught , it will be held . There is something magical about action in any picture . It brings a sense of reality and excitement .
Dancers make the best subjects for action pictures because they are train ed in movement and their bodies are lithe and strong enough to handle the exertion of repeating a leap or jump or turn . So , if possible try to find a girl who has had some dance training .
Of next importance is the location . The beach is an ideal location - free from distraction and having large ex panses of sand , sea and blue sky . The fresh sea air is also conducive to happy , carefree pictures .
A hilltop will give the same clear sky background . A park or golf course often can be found for such locations in which the grass makes a soft cush ion for the model's bare feet .
Indoors , a large room with space to hang the paper roll background is necessary . Be careful to avoid any violent movements for your model be
cause the sudden turn or motion may cause the paper to slip on the floor and this can be most dangerous . If you build a studio you can have one wall built so that it curves into the floor and ceiling without a dividing line . This permits your dancer to leap as high in the air as she wishes without being caught against a " seam " . The floor should be white terrazo to blend into the wall and the ceiling should be white , as well .
