Working indoors can produce the same disastrous results . You have probably seen many pictures where the photographer was a bit lazy and instead of moving the furniture in a bedroom or living room around to suit a particular area , he left it in position and the model is partially camouflaged by an unsightly lamp sticking out of her head . Or , the pho tographer used an unironed bed sheet as a background and the wrinkles are unsightly . It is easy to make a simple background .
Any kind of cloth should be stretched over a frame to give it a tight , even surface and texture . A 6 ' x 6 ' piece of felt tacked to a frame ( you can make them in different col ors ) , makes a good backdrop for three - quarter or closeup poses . If this type of background is to be used for full - length poses , confine the model to a seated position . Place a box or platform in front of the felt back ground and drape another piece of the material over the base . There will be a slight difference where the two separate , but not enough to distract from your picture .
