Weddings and ceremonies
Weddings and ceremonies are special occa sions not only for the participants but also for the photographer . This is the one time that you should put aside your own style or creative attitudes and use all your skills to take the traditional set of photographs . These portraits will be treasured by the subjects , so they should be shot exactly as they wish . Some photographers try to enliven wedding photo graphs by shooting from different angles , or using grainy films or some other special technique , but their efforts are rarely appreci ated . Weddings and ceremonies are steeped in tradition , and portraits that record them should reflect this .
The principal portrait at most ceremonies is the group shot . At a wedding , arrange the group with the bride and groom in the center Outdoors , diffused , overcast light is best . Formal individual portrait The formal shot of the bride should be as glamorous and romantic as you can make it . Use high key lighting , especially if the bride is dressed in white . Avoid direct lights and harsh shadows . I used umbrella flash for this portrait . Pentax 6 × 7 , 55 mm , 1/30 sec at f11 , Ektachrome 200 .
Shooting in the church A If you have permission to photograph in the church try to use a high position . Flash is inappropriate - use fast film and give a long exposure if necessary . Nikon FE , 80-200 mm zoom , 1/30 sec at f4 , Ektachrome 400 .
