* حتى بائع الخضار كان عليه أن يتجول مسلحا .
* شهور طويلة كان البيروتيين في خلالها بشاطرون مصيرهم معا . ليال طويلة على ضوء الشموع . ينامون على دورات في ممرات المنازل والملاجىء ليقوموا في الصباح ويجدوا ان شقة من شققهم قد هدمها القصف الليلي في اثناء نزولهم الى المخابيء .
* حتى زوارق النزهة انقلبت الى الية مسلحة .
* Even the greengrocer had to walk around armed.
* For many months, during which the Beirutis shared their fate together. Long nights by candlelight. They sleep on cycles in the corridors of houses and shelters, only to get up in the morning and find that one of their apartments has been demolished by the night bombardment while they were going down to the shelters.
* Even the pleasure boats turned into an armed mechanism.
