LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Time - lag lapse I found Norman Goldberg's arti cle on time lag [ " The Indecisive Mo ment , " April issue ] interesting informative . Since I treasure Fujica AX - 5 , I was especially atten tive to his comments on that cam era . Unfortunately , his comments are confusing . On page 148 , he gives the AX - 5's TL in program mode 128 mS , whereas the chart on page 67 indicates an even longer 190 in program and 128 mS in aperture priority mode . Also , he gives no figure for AX - 5 in shutter - priority mode page 67 , and on page 148 states that only the Leica R4 and Mamiya ZE X operate in all four modes . My AX - 5 certainly operates in shutter priority mode . Did he or could obtain a value for that mode ? Also of interest would be the val ues for two cameras , not tested , that offer all four modes , namely the Canon A - 1 and the Pentax Super Program R. Blake Michael Delaware , Oh Norman Goldberg replies : Thanks for calling this to our attention . Your comments are correct . Through a transcription oversight , the time for the Fujica AX - 5 operating in the T ( shutter - priority ) mode was omit ted . The value recorded was 190 mS the same as in the P mode . This is the value that should have been cited in stead of 128 mS on page 148 , second column . 13th line from the bottom The paragraph following this should have read : " Only two other
cameras in this group offer all four operating modes . " The Canon 4-1 was not included in the text be cause two Canon models were al ready chosen , each representing a type that has enjoyed very large salex and , equally important , typifying the internal design of nearly all recent Canon SLRs , including the A - 1 . expect that the A - 1's time lag would be nearly the same as the AE - 1 Pro gram's ( 185 mS ) . The article was prepared before the Pentax Super Program camera was introduced , which
explains its not being included
