مستعمرات الموز في كوستاريكا
تعتبر كوستاريكا من أوائل بلدان أميركا الوسطى بتصدير فاكهة الموز ، إذ تحتل ثلاث شركات عملاقة مساحات كبيرة جداً من الأراضي المخصصة لزراعة هذه الفاكهة الطرية والدسمة
والشركات هي « ترانسناشینال » و « ستاندرد فروت » و « یونایتد براندس » و هي احدى فروع شركة « ديل مونتي » الشهيرة .
ينمو الموز في مستعمرات زراعية هي عبارة عن مساحات منخفضة على الساحل ، والمزارعون يفضلون استبعاد كلمة مستعمرات ، وإستبدالها بمزارع ، خصوصاً وانهم عانوا الأمرين من شركات الموز التي كادت تشكل دولا مستقلة في الماضي ، بحيث يتصرف كل صاحب شركة وكانه رئيس جمهورية رسمي في « مستعمرته » .
اليوم زالت هذه الظاهرة لكن الموز لا زال هو محصول التصدير الرئيسي لباناما وكوستاريكا
ونيكاراغوا وهندوراس وغواتيمالا .
وعام ١٨٧٨ هو العام الذي دخلت فيه زراعة الموز إلى كوستاريكا وما لبثت أن انتشرت بسرعة ، وقد شجع شركات الموز على الاستئثار باكبر المساحات وزراعتها ان هذه الأراضي الاستوائية المنخفضة كانت مهملة من قبل الدولة ، فاستطاعت الشركات الحصول عليها باثمان بخسة للغاية .
هذا وقد انتجت كوستاريكا في العام الماضي
وحده ما مقداره ٥١،٧ مليون صندوق موز معدل الواحد منها ۲۰ كلغ تقريباً وسعر الصندوق الواحد سبعة دولارات داخل الأسواق الأميركية .
معروف ان شجرة الموز تعطي « قرطاً واحداً » من الثمار في كل موسم . ويحتوي القرط ، على حوالي مائتي موزة تزن ٣٠ كلغ تقريباً ـ صندوق ونصف الصندوق ـ هذا ويتم قطع شجرة الموز بعد الحصاد لترك المجال للشتلات الجديدة حتى تترعرع بارزة من جذورها الضحلة ، بحيث تنمو الشتلة خلال تسعة أشهر لتنتج - قرطاً ، خاصاً بها . هذا ولا بد من الاشارة إلى أن هناك أكثر من نوع من الموز ، لكن ما يتم انتاجه تجارياً هو من نوع ، الكافنديش ، العملاق المفضل حالياً للتصدير بعدما قضت احدى الآفات الزراعية وتدعى « مرض الموز ، في الثلاثينات على كامل النوع المعروف باسم غروس مايكل , الأكثر رواجاً حينذاك .
ويبقى ان نذكر وحسب تأكيد أهالي كوستاريكا أن النوع الذي يتم تصديره الآن إلى اميركا وأوروبا ومناطق اخرى هو الأقل لذة بین اکثر من ستة أصناف محلية ، والسبب يعود إلى ان هذه الأصناف غير قابلة للشحن⏹

Banana colonies in Costa Rica
Costa Rica is one of the first Central American countries to export bananas, as three giant companies occupy very large areas of land designated for the cultivation of this soft and creamy fruit.
The companies are "Transnational", "Standard Fruit" and "United Brands", which is one of the branches of the famous "Del Monte" company.
Bananas grow in agricultural colonies, which are low areas on the coast, and farmers prefer to exclude the word colonies, and replace them with farms, especially since they suffered greatly from banana companies that almost formed independent states in the past, so that each company owner acts as if he were an official president in his “colony.” .
