انزلت شركة - إيستمان كوداك ، سلسلة كاملة من منتجات الديسك ، المرنة بكل ما يستخدم على نطاق واسع من البنيات المعروفة .
وستعمل كوداك على تسويق هذه الديسكات ، بكل الاشكال التقليدية الشائعة .
وقد تحدث مسؤولو كوداك عن ذلك قائلين ان ديسكات كوداك الجديدة هذه تمثل توسع الشركة في سوق آخذة بالنمو ، ذلك ان ما هو مستخدم الآن من ديسكات مرنة لملايين الكومبيوترات الشخصية ومصنعي الكلمات واجهزة الكومبيوتر الأخرى تمثل سوق يليوني دولار الآن في طول العالم وعرضه ، وتتوقع الشركة لهذا السوق أن يحقق قفزة ملحوظة في كل من السنوات الأربع المقبلة .
ويضيف المسؤولون ان تجربتهم مع الانطلاقات الحديثة امثال نزول شريط الفيديو الذي لينتجونه إلى السوق تشير الى ان قوى كوداك في مجالات التصنيع والتسويق والتوزيع يمكن تطبيقها بكل نجاح على سوق المجال المغناطيسي .
وهكذا تكون كوداك مستعدة لتلبية طلب الصناعة لمنتجات متقدمة تقنياً من ناحية ، ومسعرة بشكل يفي بحاجات مستخدمي الاجهزة المعنية إغراقياً .
- اشكال متعددة
هذا وسوف تشتمل المبيعات الأولى على السلسلة الواسعة من ديسكات كودك ٨ بوصة و ١/٤ ٥ بوصة ٣٠٠ اورشید ( Oe ) المصممة لتستعمل مع معظم انظمة الكومبيوتر الموجودة حاليا ، والديسكات هذه متوفرة باشكال أحادية وثنائية الوجه هذا ، وتشتمل ديسكات ١/٤ ٥ بوصة على بنيات كثافة - ثنائية وكثافة -رباعية لـ ٤٨ و ٩٦ مساراً في تطبيقات البوصة الواحدة ( tpi ) ، وهي موضبة في علب إثنين أو خمس او عشر ديسكات .
اما ديسكات الـ ٨ بوصة فموضبة في علب من عشر ديسكات للعديد من الاطارات الرئيسة الشائعة وسطوح الكومبيوتر الدقيق والمايكرو كومبيوتر والأجهزة الاختصاصية لتصنيع الكلمات .
- خزن ضخم مرتفع الكثافة
اضافة الى الانتاج من سلسلة ۳۰۰ - اورشید ، بدأت كوداك كذلك بانزال مجموعة ديسكات ٦٠٠ ـ او رشيد ١/٤ ٥ بوصة مرتفعة الكثافة ، وهذه إما ذات طاقة ٣،٣ ميغابايت ( Mb ) مقطعة تحتوي على ۱۹۲ مسار في البوصة الواحدة مع ١٧ او ٣٠ قطاع في المسار الواحد ، أو ديسكات طاقة ١،٦ ( Mb ) غير مقطعة تحتوي على ٩٦ مساراً في
البوصة الواحدة .
وفي بداية المطاف ، ثاني ديسكات كوداك ٦٠٠ مرتفعة الكثافة في تعليبات في خمسة وعشرة وبعدها ديسكات الـ ٦٠٠ اورشيد بنية ١/٢ ٣ بوصة ، مع تعليبات كبيرة تم انزالها في الربع الأخير من العام الحالي .
تجدر الاشارة إلى ان منتجات ٦٠٠ مرتفعة الكثافة مصنوعة لتستخدم مع الاجهزة الأحدث للعمل بديسك مرتفع الكثافة .
امثال جهاز کوداك للعمل بديسك مرن ۳ ٫ ۳ ميغابايت الذي يستخدم ديسكات ۱۹۲ مساراً في البوصة الواحدة مع الكومبيوتر الشخصي ( IBM - AT الذي يستخدم ديسكات ٩٦ مساراً في البوصة الواحدة .
وفي النهاية نشير الى ان جهاز ديسك كوداك ٣،٣ المرن ١/٤ ٥ بوصة يحقق تخزيناً مرتفع الكثافة مع رأس كتابة / قراءة دقيق وميكانيكية سيرفو ( servo ) ملائمة لتتبع المسار .
